Voicemail settings

Postby dfte on Tue Feb 27, 2007 12:25 pm

Hi - a simple question, I hope. We have voice mail (or whatever Nortel calls it) on a simple BCM50 system ( < 10 handsets) - no add-ons or 3rd party products involved. When the system is unattended, all calls are be set to go to one single message and recording system. However, it is set up to go to voicemail immediately with no ringing - how can we change it to ring a couple of times before transferring to voicemail? Thanks

Do you know if it is the Auto Attendant answering or
is it going straight to a mailbox? Also are you
programming via Element Manager on your network or
from a handset with a Feature 983 session?

Thanks - I think it's going straight to a mailbox; it was set up by the British Telecom person who installed it. At the moment, the Element Manager on the network isn't avaiable, so it will have to be via Feature, but I can't find any reference to 983 in the Manual - maybe 982 or 984?

Further info - have now restored Element Manager and can control the BCM50 through the network, but unable to find where to set the ring delay for voicemail. Changing it in AutoAttendant settings seems to produce no effect.

I would suggest that you call somebody that knows the programming because you could make things worse. Having said that you should open up Element Manager
& launch the Call Pilot. Look at the line answering & change the ring setting to the appropriate number
of rings. If it is not the autoattendant forcing
the call to a mailbox than check any set that has ringing lines & make sure that forward on busy is not forcing an incoming call directly to a mailbox.
You need to determine whether the call is being forced to the autoattendant or a mailbox.
I hope this helps!!!!!

Further advice - accept now adequate Element Manager and can ascendancy the BCM50 through the network, but clumsy to acquisition area to set the ring adjournment for voicemail. Changing it in AutoAttendant settings seems to aftermath no effect.
